On the Road Again
Embarking on her first solo venture without longtime business partner Mary Sue Milliken, Susan Feniger (who has helmed such L.A. staples as Too Hot Tamales, Border Grill, City and Ciudad) is readying her new Hollywood restaurant, Susan Feniger’s Street. The concept is international: global street foods plucked from their respective cuisines and contained in a single, all-encompassing menu. That means meals without borders, an intercontinental mix that’s set to touch everywhere from Malaysia to Egypt. Click over to eatatstreet.com to find photos and videos documenting the restaurant’s birth.
The Worst of Times
After 20 years, Third Street stalwart the Cook’s Library is preparing to shutter. According to the L.A. Times, the culinary bookstore has suffered with the rise of Internet resellers like Amazon despite the store’s longstanding ties to the community and choice events and book signings, which brought in such featured chefs as Eric Ripert, Ferran Adrià, Alice Waters and others. An unfortunate clearance sale is going on now until the store closes on April 30. Visit a final time at 8373 West Third Street.
